That was soon to change. At 8:46, American Airlines flight 11 struck the North tower of the World Trade Center. At first, this may have been considered a freak accident. Then, at 9:03, United Airlines flight 175 struck the South Tower and we now realized this was no accident and terrorist had begun carrying out a plot to hijack planes and use them as weapons to attack our citizens. At 9:37 American Airlines flight 77 struck the Pentagon. The South Tower of the World Trade Center collapsed at 9:59. United Airlines flight 93 had also been hijacked with its intended target being the U.S. Capitol. Due to the bravery of the passengers on that flight, they were able to overpower the terrorists preventing that attack. Unfortunately, that plane crashed into a field in Shanksville Pennsylvania at 10:03. The North Tower of the World Trade Center collapsed at 10:28. Today we remember all of the lives lost on that fateful day and we honor the sacrifices of our brother Firefighters, Police and EMT/Paramedics who made the ultimate sacrifice saving lives of those trapped in the burning towers. NEVER FORGET
